From Rheingold’s article “Why You Need Digital Know-HowWhy We All Need It”, discusses the usage of anything digital should be implemented responsibly, not just being educated about the negative sides of digital tools. He discusses the influence of cyber culture in this day and age and how it is very significant that people are aware of it. The world is going to be relying on technological advancements more and more, so it is important that we educated ourselves with everything that comes with the price.

I honestly enjoyed this course over the semester. It was very interesting to learn more about what digital literacy is and what comes with that responsibility. Things that I didn’t know about were examples from earlier concepts like digital natives and digital residents. This has made me realize how so many people don’t have the opportunity or access to digital tools in order to advance with culture. It made me sit back and value what I have learned about due to the education I was taught in school. It has also made me realize that many people (especially older generations or people living in developing countries who don’t have access to digital tools) aren’t going to be successful and that there is an unequal distribution of education.

Going forward, I will continue to educate myself and stay aware of the digital culture. Responsibly using digital tools and technology as it evolves and newer divides arise. I will take what I learned from this course and apply it to every situation I am in.
